Blood of the Mountain

Often referred to as “mountain’s blood” or “mountain tar,” shilajit is a purified mineral pitch, formed from the humification of resin and latex containing plants. It takes decades, centuries, or more, to form.

Once formed, raw shilajit is rich in a variety of constituents, including resins, fatty acids, benzoic acid, and minerals.

According to the Ayurvedic tradition, the best way to purify shilajit is through the suyra tapi process, one that relies heavily on the purifying powers of the sun.

The suyra tapi process takes one year to complete. It involves decocting the raw shilajit with the herbal formula triphala, filtering the decoction, and allowing the liquid to purify in the sun’s rays. This process is repeated multiple times over the course of one year, leaving you with an extremely clean and potent shilajit paste.

This shilajit paste can eaten in small amounts by itself or mixed into water, juice, etc.
